Initial Diagnostic Assessment, Book Manuscript: $350

This report offers specific suggested ways to improve your manuscript to make it more appealing to agents, publishers, and readers. From your full manuscript, I will provide a 3-page report of my suggestions. Usually this will highlight 2–3 main issues to address, with any number of minor points to help improve the work.

Detailed Analysis by Chapter: $700

For this, I study your entire manuscript and offer a written summary of suggestions by chapter. Length is usually 1/3- to 1/2-page per chapter. The report will highlight strengths, weaknesses, specific ideas for editorial improvements, and ways to enhance marketability of the work.

Full Editorial Services: $6 per page

Basic fee is $6 per page, based on a 250-word standard-format page. Some discounts are available ($5 per page for the first client booking in each given month). For this, I will go through your complete manuscript (no initial drafts please) and provide detailed suggestions for editorial excellence and marketability.

For fiction, this generally involves ways to increase tension, stakes, and pay-offs; to address problems of pacing and structure; to hone scene-craft (details of place, character, dialogue, action, etc.); and to build satisfying characters, plot lines, and overall story development.

For nonfiction, this generally focuses on issues of clarity, sequencing, what to develop further (or cut) to deliver the information in the most interesting way, and overall reader appeal and good storytelling within your nonfiction structure.
